All you need to know for Amazon’s big sale

Amazon Prime Day 2023 is almost upon us and if you want to know everything about the sale before it kicks off then you’re in the right place.

While Black Friday and, to a lesser extent, the Boxing Day sales bring about some impressive discounts on the latest tech, when it comes to all things Amazon and what the company has stored within its many warehouses, Amazon Prime Day is where it’s at.

The annual sale which now flies in the face of its name by spilling over into several days worth of deals, is designed to give Amazon Prime subscribers the opportunity to save big on any items they may have their eye on, and usually with the type of discounts that would make Black Friday blush.

From our experience, while Black Friday is the better bet when it comes to shopping from multiple retailers (particularly for Christmas shopping), Prime Day is arguably even better if you’re happy to shop solely via Amazon. This is because the online retailer tends to save its best deals for Prime Day so as to give it more weight against November’s Black Friday sale.

As mentioned however, Prime Day does have a barrier to entry in that eager shoppers need to have an active Prime membership to participate. This won’t come as any surprise to long-time subscribers but if you’ve yet to see what Prime is all about then Amazon luckily offers a 30-day free trial so that you can not only make use of the Prime Day sale but also see what other benefits Prime brings to the table.

With all that in mind, let’s dive into the key bits of information that you’ll need to know if you want to make the most out of Prime Day 2023.

When does Prime Day 2023 begin?

Prime Day 2023 will kick off on July 11 at 0:01am UK time. The deals will run for 48 hours with new offers constantly dropping until the event officially wraps up at 11:59pm on July 12. This will include regular deals and more time-sensitive Lightning offers, so make sure you check back regularly if you’re hoping to catch a specific item on sale.

Early Prime Day deals 2023

As always Amazon is building the anticipation for the big day(s) by getting the party started early for Amazon Prime members. You can check out the early risers at www.amazon.co.uk/primeday.

For example, new users can get four-months of free Amazon Music Unlimited and up to 66% off digital movie purchases and rentals from Prime Video. Sticking with the digital theme, there’s three free months of Kindle Unlimited up for grabs, bonus free game offers (including weekly drops of games like Prey, Baldur’s Gate II, Shovel Knight: Showdown, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed).

The company is also offering free three months of Audible and a discount on the Amazon Grocery service.

In terms of devices, from June 21 you can get discounts on Amazon devices including the Echo, Echo Show, Fire TV, Fire Tablet, Kindle and Blink ranges. There’s loads of money to be saved on Amazon Brands’ products too.

How to sign up for Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime memberships cost £8.99 a month or £95 a year. You can sign-up here. New customers get a 30-day free trial.

If you’re not an Amazon Prime member now, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to sign-up for a free trial between now and July 11 regardless of whether you’ve had a membership before.

In fact, Amazon is offering a free month to eligible customers with all of the associated benefits of free one-day delivery and access to loads of digital services right now.

Amazon’s goal here is to generate residual income through Prime memberships and it doesn’t really care if you’re paying for it or not on July 11. Remember it wants you to have these deals!

So, don’t fritter away your savings by paying for a Prime membership in the next few weeks.
