Xbox Ally X leak points toward imminent pre-orders and a high price

They won’t come cheap

The report says the ROG Xbox Ally X will cost $899, while the standard ROG Xbox Ally will be priced at $599. However, it’s worth noting that prices do tend to vary in other regions due to inflation and tariffs.

These could translate to £599 and £899 respectively in the UK, or they could be priced slightly less – we’ll just have to wait and see.

While the price of the ROG Xbox Ally X will have eyebrows raised, at least there’s a more affordable option in the Ally. For comparison, the standard Ally X retails for £799 in the UK. It’s not unusual for these PC gaming handhelds to be priced noticeably higher than traditional handheld options like the Nintendo Switch 2.

Microsoft is definitely going to be at Gamescom and has promised fans a chance to go hands on with the new handhelds. That makes sense given the timing of this leak.

The base Xbox Ally features an AMD Ryzen Z2 A chip, 16GB RAM and packs a 7-inch FHD display. The Ally X upgrades to a Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip, 24GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. It also has adaptive triggers like the Xbox Series controllers.

Both run a customised version of Windows 11, which means you’ll be able to access your Xbox PC games and cloud streaming. However, Xbox titles won’t be available natively unless you’re using Remote Play.

Again, none of this is confirmed, so we’d advise you to keep your eyes peeled for the official announcements as Gamescom approaches.
