If you’ve ever been tempted to dive into the world of VR but haven’t found the right entry-point price-wise, this is your chance.

Last year Meta finally debuted its brilliant budget-friendly VR headset in the Quest 3S. While we have seen a few discounts for the device in the time since launch, the offers have been somewhat sporadic but now there’s an undeniable bargain afoot for Amazon Prime Day.

So long as you’re signed up to Amazon Prime, you can get the Meta Quest 3S for just £237.99, making for a tasty £51.01 saving on the device’s original price point. That money saved could easily go towards filling up your Meta Quest library with must-play titles and experiences.

I was lucky enough to test out the standard Meta Quest 3 a few years back for a feature about fitness content in VR, and since then I’ve had an absolute blast with the headset. From playing native titles to streaming films and TV shows, there isn’t much that can’t be done with a Meta Quest headset in tow.

From a gaming perspective, the Quest 3S leaves you spoilt for choice. Of course there are arcade-style titles designed around VR such as Beat Saber, Pistol Whip and Superhot VR, but there are also longer, triple-A style games like Batman: Arkham Shadow that are just waiting to be experienced.

I’ve sunk quite a few hours into Arkham Shadow now and as someone who played the original Arkham games obsessively, I can tell you that this VR titles recaptures the mood of those games effortlessly.

When you fancy diving into a more console-like experience, you can stream titles via the cloud in Game Pass. I did just that to play a decent chunk of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle when my Xbox wasn’t available, and it works incredibly well, particularly given that you’re essentially playing it on a cinema-sized screen.

As you can imagine, that large display also works brilliantly for watching content. There are native apps for Prime Video and YouTube, plus you can dive into Netflix via the Oculus browser, so there’s plenty to experience.

With all this in mind, the Meta Quest 3S works as a brilliant 2-in-1 device for those who want a games console that also doubles as a streaming device when you just want to kick back and relax.
