As the iPhone 17 series release date approaches, the leaks are coming thick and fast.
The latest concerns the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max colours, which might be a little more out there than we’re used to with the Pro line.
While the Pro models have tended to stick with muted tones, like Space Grey and Silver, it seems Apple might be ready to embrace a bolder palette. Specifically, it’s rumoured the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will come in an eye-catching orange.
Leaker Sonny Dickson has shared images of dummy models on X that show the iPhone 17 Pro in black, white, dark blue and orange. The orange is the clear outlier here, and it looks great.
The images also once again highlight the constantly rumoured new design, complete with a horizontal camera bar, rather than the square module we’ve seen since the iPhone 11. Other reported features included a 48-megapixel telephoto lens (up from 12MP), an improved ultrawide and a 24-megapixel front camera. Also expect a faster chipset powering the phone.
The iPhone 17 series is likely to launch between September 8 and 12, 2025. The standard model is rumoured to come in six colours including Light Blue, Purple and Steel Gray. The iPhone 17 Air is also rumoured to come in Light Gold and White. It’s a shame it doesn’t look like we’ll see the Air – likely Apple’s thinnest iPhone – come in the standout orange.
Overall, these leaks suggest Apple is looking to inject a little more personality into its Pro lineup. Perhaps that’s an attempt to appeal to a different audience? We’ll find out when the final colours are revealed during the keynote.
Opinion
While it’s only a leaked dummy, I think this reported orange option looks great – and it’s the colour I would choose. I have always found the Pro iPhone colours to be quite glum with no playful options like you’d find on the standard range. Pro users want fun options too! And it seems like Apple might be listening.
