Samsung may finally be ready to show off its first trifold phone.
According to a report cited by tipster Ice Universe, and backed by Korean outlet The Chosun, the Galaxy Z TriFold is set to launch on December 5, ending months of leaks, prototypes, and silence from Samsung.
The newest leak gives us a clearer picture of what Samsung has been building. The Galaxy Z TriFold will reportedly measure 4.2mm when opened and 14mm when folded, roughly matching the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s thickness when open, but naturally chunkier when closed due to its three-panel design.
The phone is said to feature a centred 6.5-inch outer display, while the inside opens up into a 10-inch tablet-like screen, noticeably wider than the Fold 7’s squarer 8-inch panel.
Samsung’s first three-stage folding mechanism reportedly works by folding the left and right panels inward in sequence, and inside the chassis is a 5,600mAh battery, split across three cells, one in each segment. That’s a sizable bump over the Fold7’s 4,400mAh battery and should help power the larger inner display.
A leaked spec sheet also suggests that Samsung will produce only 20,000 to 30,000 units, with availability initially limited to select regions, such as Korea and China. And as expected for a first-gen trifold, it won’t be cheap; pricing is estimated at around $3,000 or roughly 4.4 million won.
Early reactions from Reddit have been mixed. Some users say they’re relieved they waited for a larger battery, while others are already bracing for the trade-offs, joking that 5600mAh on something this big still won’t save battery life.
But the loudest chorus is about the price. At around $3,000, many commenters say it’s an easy pass, especially with the phone expected to ship with the same processor as the Fold 7 just weeks before the next Snapdragon chip lands in the Galaxy S26.
Until now, Samsung has only demoed prototype versions of the TriFold at trade events and in internal videos. But with a specific launch date now floating around, and multiple sources aligning on specs, it looks like the company is finally ready to take its most ambitious foldable mainstream… or at least as mainstream as a $3,000, limited-run device can be.
If the information holds, the Galaxy Z TriFold could mark Samsung’s biggest foldable leap yet, pushing past the familiar bi-fold format and into a new ultra-portable tablet space.
