Remarkable teases new Paper tablet that could be its best yet

Remarkable has teased that a new device will be announced on September 3, and it looks like it could be a more portable version of its fantastic Paper tablet.

The company behind the tablets designed for note-taking teased the announcement with a short video that hints at a more portable Remarkable tablet, as it focuses on people on the go rather than at a desk.

The video has the tagline ‘Something is on the move’, which again plays into this being a device with a focus on portability. Previous Paper devices haven’t been bulky as such, but they’ve certainly been more in line with the size of tablets like the iPad rather than a Kindle.

What do we know so far?

While the video is short, it does highlight a few key features that can give us more of an idea about what to expect.

For instance, the sides of the reported device are similar to the Paper Pro, so this could be a smaller version of the brand’s flagship tablet.

A colour display is shown too; again, this is a feature found on the Paper Pro, so all the hints point to this being a higher-end device rather than an update to the brand’s entry-level Remarkable 2. You can see the video below.

While there have been some comparisons made with Amazon’s Kindle Scribe, Remarkable devices have always focused on note-taking, rather than reading. So a smaller, lighter and more portable option that could be easily stowed away in a jacket pocket makes complete sense, and it could end up being the brand’s most tempting product.

If it’s not a smaller device, this tease could be for a long-awaited Remarkable 3 or an update to the Paper Pro – however, as that device only landed in late 2024, we doubt a sequel is on the way already.

We’ll find out if Remarkable has indeed made a pocket-friendly version of the Paper Pro on September 3 at 8 am ET. We’ll bring you all the news as it happens.
