Ubisoft Forward showcase announced for June in the heart of summer games season

[ad_1]

Ubisoft, the publisher of the Assassin’s Creed and Tom Clancy’s series of adventures, as well as the recently launched XDefiant crossover shooter, will host a Ubisoft Forward livestream in June, when major video game companies showcase their wares and plans for the coming year.

Ubisoft Forward 2024 will air June 10 at noon Pacific Time/3 pm Eastern Time/8 pm British Standard Time. Fans can watch the show through Ubisoft’s official YouTube and Twitch channels.

What will be shown at Ubisoft Forward 2024?

Ubisoft has already confirmed that XDefiant, which launched May 21, will appear during the stream, as will Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the next installment of that franchise due in November, and Star Wars Outlaws, slated for an Aug. 30, 2024 drop.

Other franchises that could see a mention include Skull and Bones (which launched in February); Rainbow Six Siege (a live-service game); and possibly Tom Clancy’s The Division 3, especially as Ubisoft ash-canned plans for The Division Heartland, a free-to-play take on the loot-shooter that began with Tom Clancy’s The Division in 2016.

For more clues as to who or what may show up, Ubisoft has revealed a schedule of content drops, via Twitch, for those who stay tuned through the whole 60 minutes of the show:

  • 15 minutes: Ultra Top Fan Charm for Rainbow Six Siege
  • 20 minutes: Forest’s Dawn Trinket for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
  • 30 minutes: Trailblazer Trinket for Star Wars Outlaws
  • 45 minutes: M60 Eruption Weapon Skin for XDefiant, Skull and Bones Welcome Fireworks
  • 60 Minutes: Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale (1964) for The Crew Motorfest, Yurei Bushido Gear Set and the Koi Uchide-no-Kozuchi trinket for Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, a long awaited remake of of the 2003 classic, could also appear during the showcase. When last we heard from it, Ubisoft Montreal was at work remaking the whole thing from the ground up, following two years of delays and false starts with the project’s original developers at Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai in India.

Madrid are big favourites for the title having seen off holders Manchester City in quarter-finals and Bayern Munich in the semi-finals. You’d be brave to bet against Carlo Ancelotti’s side getting their mitts on ol’ Big Ears once again.

Dortmund are this year’s surprise package, having beaten PSG in the semi-finals and having seen off the dangerous Atletico Madrid in the quarters. The charge to the final has been led by another Englishman, the Manchester United outcast Jaden Sancho, who has rediscovered his top form after rejoining his old club on loan.

A thrilling encounter awaits under the arch in North London. Here’s how to watch for free on the best TV you have in the house.

When is it, how to watch, and what to expect

When is it, how to watch, and what to expect

[ad_1]

TL;DR

  • Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference will take place from June 10 to June 14. The main keynote will start at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET on the first day.
  • We expect the company to finally reveal iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, and watchOS 11, which are rumored to pack some significant AI upgrades.
  • Those interested can watch the main keynote live on Apple’s Events website, TV app, Developer app, or YouTube channel.

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 kicks off in just a few weeks. From June 10 to June 14, the Cupertino firm will make developer-centric announcements and reveal its upcoming operating system versions, like iOS 18 and macOS 15. If you’re wondering what exactly Apple will announce during WWDC 2024 and how to watch the main keynote live, you’ve come to the right place.

iOS 18

Perhaps the most exciting WWDC24 announcement will be that of iOS 18. This upcoming OS update is expected to be one of the most significant in the iPhone’s history. While Apple software rumors and leaks are generally scarce compared to hardware ones, some reports have given us a quick look at some of iOS 18’s potential additions.

Apple has confirmed that new artificial intelligence features will soon be available on its platforms. However, rumors suggest that these upcoming AI goods may not be as significant as those offered by companies like OpenAI and Google. If a chatbot makes it to iOS 18, it will likely be based on ChatGPT rather than Apple’s in-house smarts. As per Bloomberg, Apple has reportedly signed a deal with OpenAI to provide ChatGPT’s chatbot functionality in iOS 18. The deal (or the product of the deal) is expected to be formally announced at WWDC 2024.

Apple hasn’t apparently closed the door on Google’s Gemini either. The report says Apple is still working on a deal with Google to offer Gemini as an option, but don’t expect it to be announced at WWDC.

With iOS 18, Apple is said to be working to use generative AI to create custom emojis. Users can also look forward to AI-powered summaries in Safari and Messages, which will let them summarize missed notifications, individual messages, webpages, articles, documents, notes, and more.

Siri is said to be getting an upgrade, too, bringing more natural interactions based on Apple’s own AI models and a more advanced Siri for the Apple Watch. Apple is also working on AI-powered photo editing, improved Spotlight and web searches, and reply suggestions for emails and messages.

Beyond these AI goods, iOS 18 may also upgrade the Mail, Fitness, and Photos apps. The system could also allow iPhone users to place app icons anywhere on the Home Screen for the first time ever and even change the color of app icons. That’s not to mention the highly anticipated RCS support.

Apple Music is also expected to receive a boost, featuring AI-generated playlists and “smart song transitions.” The latter feature will potentially upgrade the existing crossfade setting by adapting to each track individually and skipping a few seconds toward the end accordingly.

Lastly, iOS 18 may introduce tight integrations between the Calendar and Reminders apps, allowing their databases to communicate natively. Similarly, iOS 18 could bridge Voice Memos and Notes by automatically transcribing audio recordings.

iPadOS 18

iPadOS 18 will also be revealed during WWDC 2024’s opening keynote. Since iOS and iPadOS share the same foundation, most iOS 18 features will likely be bundled with iPadOS 18. Apart from that, Apple will reportedly bring a native Calculator app to the iPad with this release.

Oliver Cragg / Android Authority

While the rumors don’t share much beyond that, Apple may announce some new iPad Pro M4 exclusive features. After all, iPadOS 17 doesn’t leverage the M4 chip’s full power, so it would be realistic for the company to address that with the upcoming software update.

Other WWDC24 software previews

Along with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, the Cupertino firm will preview macOS 15, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, and visionOS 2 during the upcoming WWDC. However, beyond similar AI and native app upgrades, it’s currently unclear what notable additions and changes these operating systems will include.

After the main keynote concludes, Apple should seed the first developer beta builds for these operating systems.

Potential hardware announcements

Apple WWCD23 Vision Pro lifestyle working 230605

While Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference revolves primarily around software, the company can also make hardware announcements on the first day. For example, the Vision Pro — currently limited to the US — could expand to international markets during the event.

Otherwise, new Macs tend to make it to the WWDC show, so the company could potentially refresh some of its machines on that day. However, none of the recent rumors point to that, so Apple may alternatively skip the Mac upgrades this time around.

Similarly, Apple hasn’t been upgrading its iPhones, iPads, or Apple Watches during WWDC, so it’s safe to assume that these devices won’t be refreshed during this show either.

How to watch WWDC 2024

The main WWDC24 keynote will start on June 10 at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET. Once the livestream begins, you can watch it on one of the following platforms:

  • YouTube: YouTube is arguably the best and most versatile video streaming platform for watching WWDC 2024, and Apple will broadcast the main keynote on its official channel.
  • Apple.com: The livestream on Apple’s Events website tends to be a few seconds ahead of YouTube’s and works on all relevant web browsers. However, it’s more prone to lagging when connected to a slow network.
  • Apple TV and Apple Developer apps: Apple’s TV and Developer offer the same livestream as Apple.com through first-party apps. Those using Apple hardware and connected to a fast network may prefer either over YouTube or Apple.com.

Shortly after the main WWDC24 keynote concludes, it will be available for on-demand streaming via the same platforms listed above.

Make sure to visit Android Authority during and after the conference to stay updated with what’s new.

Best Amazon Prime Sales and Deals 2024

[ad_1]

Memorial Day sales have come and gone, but there are more ways to take advantage of amazing sales and deals. If you’re on the hunt for deep discounts and massive sale offers from brands like Apple, Vitamix, and Dyson, then get ready for Amazon Prime Day, summer’s premier sales event.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2024?

Amazon’s Prime Day for 2024 is just around the corner—this July to be exact. Although the specific dates haven’t been announced yet, last year’s Prime Day took place on Tuesday, July 11, and Wednesday, July 12, starting at 3 a.m. EST on Tuesday and ran through the end of Wednesday.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day is a massive sale hosted by Amazon annually. The retailer offers exclusive discounts and deals to Amazon Prime members that typically last for 48 hours and features a wide range deals across various categories such as beauty, tech, home, fashion, and more. These discounts can be substantial, often rivaling those seen during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

How much is Amazon Prime?

In order to participate in the sale, you’ll need a Prime membership, which costs $14.99 a month. You can opt for the annual membership ($139) which saves you roughly $40. College students can join Prime for just $7.49 per month or $69 a year.

What are the best Amazon Prime deals to shop now?

The first round of deals will be announced on June 10, 2024, but you can check out these deals that are live now.

Best for home

Best for tech

Best for food and kitchen

Best for fitness

Best for health and wellness

Best for beauty

How many times a year does Prime Day happen?

Amazon Prime Day is typically held in July, however in the summer of 2020 (due to the pandemic), the retailer pushed back its summer sale to October. Since then, this additional sale has remained and is known as “Prime Early Access Sale.” This October sale offers more opportunities to take advantage of deep discounts ahead of the holiday shopping season. Therefore, while Amazon Prime Day has traditionally been a once-a-year event, the retailer has fallen into the trend of hosting a second major sale in October, effectively making it twice annually.

Are all items on sale during Prime Day?

Since Amazon sells just about everything you can image, Prime Day offers sales and deals on almost everything in its inventory. If you can’t wait until July, you can check out the bargains that are always available on the site. Happy shopping!

A Guide to Visiting Matobo Hills in Zimbabwe

[ad_1]

Are you thinking about visiting the Matobo Hills in Zimbabwe? Here, beautiful landscapes meet a deep history. Giant rocks and ancient sites blend into one stunning view.

This guide will help you get the most out of your visit, from walking through the unique rock formations to exploring the local wildlife and learning about the area’s rich past. The Matobo Hills are not just a scenic spot; they are a peek into the heart of Zimbabwe’s heritage. Whether you’re into the great outdoors, fascinated by history, or just looking for a new adventure, there’s something here for everyone.

Let’s dive into what makes the Matobo Hills a must-see.

The Unique Landscape Of The Matobo Hills

The Matobo Hills stand out with their incredible granite rock formations called kopjes. These large rocks have been shaped over millions of years by erosion, creating unusual shapes and formations where some boulders seem to balance precariously on top of one another. It’s a fascinating sight that draws visitors from all over.

Beyond just rocks, the Matobo Hills are a thriving hub of biodiversity. The area is home to a wide variety of plants and animals, including the rare and endangered black and white rhinoceros. This makes the hills not only a place of great natural beauty but also an important area for wildlife conservation. Here, you can experience the rich tapestry of nature and history intertwined, making it a vital and vibrant part of Zimbabwe’s heritage.

The Rich History Of The Matobo Hills

Here’s a round up of the different historic sights you can see when visiting Matobo Hills.

Rock Art Sites

The Matobo Hills are renowned for their extensive collection of ancient rock art, with over 3,000 documented sites. These artworks, crafted by the San people, span at least 13,000 years and showcase a range of scenes from daily life to spiritual rituals, featuring animals, human figures, and abstract patterns. The art offers a glimpse into the rich cultural and spiritual lives of these ancient communities.

Among these, Nswatugi Cave is a highlight where visitors can admire a wide array of animal paintings, including giraffes, elephants, and kudu, all vividly preserved over millennia. Bambata Cave is another notable site, famous for its dynamic frieze that includes images of sable antelope and eland alongside depictions of human figures, illustrating the interaction between humans and their environment. For those up for an adventure, a hike to Inanke Cave rewards with some of the most detailed and well-preserved paintings in the area, featuring an evocative scene of women dancing, which speaks volumes about the social practices of the time.

These sites enrich our understanding of prehistoric life and underscore the Matobo Hills as a crucial site for cultural preservation and study, bridging past and present through the enduring legacy of rock art.

Historical Sites

Beyond ancient rock art, the Matobo Hills are steeped in more modern historical significance. In the late 19th century, this area was a key battleground in the conflicts between the Ndebele people and European settlers.

A notable historical landmark here is the grave of Cecil John Rhodes, the British colonialist who played a major role in the region’s history. Rhodes was buried at World’s View, a stunning lookout point that offers panoramic views of the hills and valleys below. Today, visitors can visit his grave and enjoy the spectacular scenery that stretches out from this unique spot.

Another important site is the Njelele Shrine, a sacred spot for the Ndebele people. It serves as a cultural and spiritual hub, primarily used for rainmaking ceremonies and traditional rituals. While it is not accessible to tourists, the shrine’s ongoing role in local cultural practices highlights the deep spiritual and historical layers that enrich the Matobo Hills.

Legal Expert Calls Out Trump’s Lies About His Failed Defense

Legal Expert Calls Out Trump’s Lies About His Failed Defense

[ad_1]

The gaslighting continues because Donald J. Trump is not handling the aftermath of his 34 felony convictions very well.

Read: Samuel Alito Is The Insurrectionist Threat To Democracy On The Supreme Court

In the atrium of Trump Tower, the ex-president ranted and raved and blamed and whined in Vintage Trump style, to the point that CNN cut him off. He wove in his usual hits of false claims about the Judge, the DOJ, President Joe Biden, and he claimed he had wanted to testify in his defense but was advised against it and falsely claimed they weren’t “allowed” to use an election expert witness.

“I would have testified. I wanted to testify,” Trump said. “The theory is you never testify because as soon as you testify — anybody, if it were George Washington, don’t testify because they’ll get you on something that you said slightly wrong, and then they sue you for perjury.”

“As far as the trial itself, it was very unfair. We weren’t allowed to use our election expert under any circumstances,” the presumptive Republican presidential nominee and convicted felon said.

“You saw what happened to some of the witnesses that were on our side,” Trump continued. “They were literally crucified by this man who looks like an angel but he’s really a devil. He looks so nice and soft. People always say he seems like such a nice man. No, unless you saw him in action. And you saw that with a certain witness that went through hell.”

Katie Phang, host of MSNBC’s The Katie Phang show, called Trump’s excuses out, writing that he could have testified and that he and his team could have chosen to put on the elections expert, but chose not to.

Let’s be crystal clear:

Trump could have testified. No one stopped him from doing so. No one forced him to sit there and not take the stand in his own defense.

Trump, himself, decided not to testify.

Trump also lied when he said that his defense “wasn’t allowed to put on an elections expert [witness].”

The defense chose not to do so.

That was Trump’s decision not to call an expert witness.

Donald Trump can make himself the victim of anything just by inhaling. It comes to him as naturally as breathing, because this is how he sees the world. The law doesn’t apply to him and it’s an outrage if anyone tries to apply it.

Trump’s own defense lawyer claimed on Fox News that Trump was in charge of the defense calls, so really Trump is mad at Trump. But facing that would require the ability for self-examination. So instead, Trump is playing the victim by making up lies that he was only convicted because he was stopped from defending himself.

Trump appears to have put his defense at risk by calling the shots and running the board like it was a political game he could control via a narrative. Unfortunately for him, evidence presented in court isn’t the same situation as a campaign and it can’t be controlled with Trump’s usual blame game on social media.

After all, even the juror who reported that they got their news from Truth Social voted to convict Trump on every count.

Twitch replaces Safety Advisory Council with Twitch Ambassadors

Twitch replaces Safety Advisory Council with Twitch Ambassadors

[ad_1]

As reported by CNBC, Twitch has replaced all nine members of its Safety Advisory Council with Twitch Ambassadors. The company is said to have met with members of the former council on May 6 to tell them all existing contracts would end on May 31.

The former members will not be getting paid for the second half of 2024. This comes just a few months after Twitch CEO Dan Clancy declared that the live-streaming platform is not profitable and cut 35% of staff in the same month.

In an email sent to the members, Twitch reportedly said: “The Safety Advisory Council will primarily be made up of individuals who serve as Twitch Ambassadors.”

The streaming platform didn’t specify who these Ambassadors will be, only describing them as people who “positively contribute to the Twitch community — from being role models for their community, to establishing new content genres, to having inspirational stories that empower those around them.”

In a statement shared with The Verge, Twitch trust and safety communications manager Elizabeth Busby said that the new council members will bring “fresh, diverse perspectives” after four years with the same members.

“We’re excited to work with our global Twitch Ambassadors, all of whom are active on Twitch, know our safety work first hand, and have a range of experiences to pull from,” she continued.

What is … or was the Safety Advisory Council?

The Safety Advisory Council was made up of cyberbullying experts, web researchers and community members, founded in 2020 to help draft new policies, develop safety-focused products, and protect marginalized groups on the platform.

Much of its input remained private, seemingly largely focused on policy and internal operations, rather than external features such as advertisements or moderation.

The Safety Advisory Council’s members included: Dr. Sameer Hinduja, co-director of the Cyber Bullying Research Center; Dr. T.L. Taylor, the co-founder and director of AnyKey, an organization that advocates for inclusion and diversity in video games and esports; and Emma Llansó, the director of the Free Expression Project for the Center for Democracy and Technology.

Samsung’s Tizen OS is officially done as an Apple Watch rival

Samsung’s Tizen OS is officially done as an Apple Watch rival

[ad_1]

Samsung has officially discontinued its Tizen operating system for wearable devices, almost three years after it jumped back into bed with Google’s Wear OS.

In an unsurprising move the homegrown operating system that powered original Galaxy Watch in 2018 and endured into the 2021 Galaxy Watch 4, is going the way of the dodo.

OnePlus 12R is £100 off, but act fast

The excellent OnePlus 12R brings an excellent spec sheet at an excellent price. Now this battery life titan with an excellent OLED display is £100 off

Samsung will shutter content support for all Tizen OS smartwatches one year from now, according to communications received by customers and published to Reddit (via Android Authority).

Screenshots published by Redditors explain Samsung is halting sales of all Tizen Watch content on September 30 2024. Downloads of all free Tizen watch content ends on May 31 2025, while downloads of purchased items from the Galaxy Store, like watch faces, will end on September 30 2025.

While existing content on the watches will remain available, and it seems watches will continue to function as they have been, it makes things a little more difficult for users who have to reset their watch. It means content they’ve paid for won’t be available to them after the deadlines have passed.

Samsung had only promised to support the Galaxy Watch 3 until August last year, so users have already had an extra year out of their watches since then.

“At Samsung, we always put customers at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we are committed to bringing them the best possible smartwatch experiences, the company said in 2021 after shifting the range to Wear OS. “For customers who already own the Tizen OS based Galaxy smartwatches, we are continuing to provide at least three years of software support after the product launch.”

The next generation Galaxy Watch 7, which will certainly run Wear OS, is expected at an Unpacked event likely to take place in July.

Download these gradient wallpapers for your phone

Download these gradient wallpapers for your phone

[ad_1]

Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

The simplest way to customize the look of your phone is by changing the wallpaper. Changing your phone’s background takes very little effort; the hard part is finding the right image. Sometimes, it’s better not to complicate things, especially if an elaborate wallpaper will simply be covered by a bunch of icons and widgets. If you prefer to keep your background minimal, we have put together a collection of awesome gradient wallpapers for your phone.

Download these gradient wallpapers for your phone

Let’s start by explaining how our wallpaper posts work. While it might be your first instinct, you shouldn’t simply download the wallpapers below. These images are compressed and have been optimized for improved website performance, which means they won’t look as good. These are considered image previews, and are meant for you to look through the wallpapers and decide which ones you like. When ready, click on the download button below the previews to get the full-resolution files in all their glory.

How to set these gradient wallpapers on your phone

Did you find the right gradient wallpaper for your device? It’s time to set it as your background, and we can help you figure out how this is done. What’s great about wallpapers is that they are universal, as they are simply images, and you can use them with any operating system that allows you to change the background. Because these are made for smartphones, we have put together some step-by-step instructions for Android and iOS, the two leading mobile platforms.

Again, make sure to grab your wallpapers using the download button above. It’s easier to download them straight from the phone you will use them on. You can also grab them using any other device and then transfer the files using a USB cable, Bluetooth, a cloud storage service like Google Drive, or send them to yourself via email. Just make sure not to use a service that compresses images, as that would defeat the purpose. For example, Messenger and WhatsApp reduce image quality when you send photos.

Once the gradient wallpapers are on your phone, you can follow the steps below to set them as your background.

How to set these gradient wallpapers on an Android phone:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap on Wallpaper & style.
  3. Select More wallpapers.
  4. Find and select your gradient wallpaper.
  5. Modify the gradient wallpaper to your liking, then hit Set wallpaper.
  6. Pick whether you want to set the gradient wallpaper on your Home screenLock screen, or Home and lock screens.

How to set these gradient wallpapers on an iPhone:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go into the Wallpaper option.
  3. Tap on Add New Wallpaper.
  4. Find and select your boho wallpaper.
