Amazon’s latest Prime Day sale just upped the ante by dropping an outstanding Hisense TV deal that made me do a double-take
I’ve been covering Prime Day sales long enough to know that TVs are often a mainstay of Amazon’s big events, with massive price cuts on everything from more affordable LCD sets to super high-end OLED models. Similarly, QLED TVs get dragged into the frenzy but I never expected to see one going for roughly the same price as an LCD set.
If you’re quick, you can pick up the 50-inch Hisense 50E78QTUK QLED TV for just £339 on Amazon. Not only is that one of the cheapest prices I’ve ever seen for a QLED TV, it’s almost half the original price, so you’re saving a small fortune compared to what this TV would have cost you at another point in time.
This isn’t some type of scaled-back QLED TV either – you’re getting the full gamut of features that you’d expect to see, including a far more advanced lighting system than LCD TVs. By using a grid system that provides the TV with greater lighting control, you can enjoy much better colour and contrast, which just elevates the image on screen to feel far more cinematic.
That feeling of having a cinema-style experience in your living room is further emboldened by Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision compatibility, so you’re getting the overall package that a filmmaker wants you to see and hear. The onboard chipset even uses an AI engine to upscale content in real time, so if you’re watching old family movies or content that’s seriously showing its age then this TV can breathe new life into it all.
Because this is a smart TV, you’ll have access to all of your go-to streaming apps such as Netflix and Disney Plus, while the inclusion of Freely provides quick access to terrestrial channels. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the mood for a long-running drama series or some reality TV that you can zone out to, you can access it all here with ease.
We reviewed the slightly larger 55-inch model of this TV and were impressed by all that it brought to the table, with AV Editor Kob Monney noting: “for gamers, the feature-set is practically a mirror of what you get on the U7N. ALLM is available across all HDMI inputs, plus VRR support on a couple of HDMI inputs.”
For all you get with the Hisense 50E78QTUK, £339 is an absolute bargain price tag and one that’s well worth snapping up if your current TV is starting to feel a bit outdated.
