Roku’s latest software update has been announced and it’s going to help you find shows quicker than ever.

One of the biggest updates is the AI update to Roku Voice, which can answer questions about your favourite shows. It basically turns your TV into a talking TV guide and can give you a quick synopsis about a film you’re thinking of watching or tell you whether it thinks The Shining is scary or not. Roku says that the AI will learn your preferences over time and give you quick launch options too.

One of the best features of this update is the Ways to Watch function, which basically allows you to jump straight into a show after watching the trailer. Gone are the days of watching a trailer and then searching desperately for the title across multiple apps.

The improved search function also includes results from the Live TV zone, with plans of reaching the Live TV Channel Guide soon. This means you’ll be able to see your favourite shows, channels and genres and browse trending titles with ease.

Sports fans are also getting new features. Live scores and reminders allow you to track multiple games, check real-time results, and even set alerts for upcoming matches. Live scores appear directly on game tiles, but you can choose to hide them if you’d rather go spoiler free.

And for those who prefer private seamless listening, Bluetooth Headphone Mode is extending globally for Roku Streaming Stick and Streaming Stick Plus. The app is also seeing improvements, with new quick shortcuts, timers, and ratings.

Roku hasn’t yet announced when this update will roll out, but expect to see it in the next few weeks.
