A New Jersey judge has ordered casino tech company Evolution to produce all necessary documents related to the Black Cube report.
Judge John C. Porto of the Atlantic County Law Division has issued an order requiring the company to produce “certain discovery necessary” to the Black Cube investigation. That will likely include any communication, records, or regulator interaction documentation tied to Black Cube’s allegations that Evolution was operating in unlicensed areas, as well as the names of any individuals who have interacted with regulators.
The Black Cube report, which was commissioned by an as-yet anonymous entity, caused Evolution to lose around $10 billion in value, with an estimated 36% of its market cap dropping once the allegations came to light. Evolution has been pushing back on the allegations in court, as well as endeavouring to find out who commissioned the report.

However, this order from the judge puts the focus back on Evolution, rather than the report or its benefactors. The documents must be provided by December 5, according to the court filings, shared by gaming lawyer David Wallach.
The current focus of the Black Cube investigation
While earlier this year, the veracity of the Black Cube report was up for debate, the request for documentation and discovery from Evolution suggests that the court sees at least some merit in further investigation. This could be a sign of a shift against the casino tech firm and in favor of Black Cube.
ReadWrite has reached out to Evolution for further comment. The last public acknowledgement of the case saw the casino tech company continue to deny any truth to the allegations in the report.
“Black Cube filed a false and defamatory report against Evolution in an effort to harm Evolution’s business,” said the company in a statement back in April.
