One of the big benefits of Xbox Game Pass last year was the arrival of Starfield. Sure you could go on Steam or even the Xbox Store and purchase the game for real money, but if you were already paying out for your monthly subscription to Microsoft’s gaming service then Starfield was presented for you to dine on without coughing up any extra cash.
Is that the case though with the brand new Shattered Space DLC the world has been waiting for?
Let’s have a look.
Is Shattered Space on Xbox Game Pass?
Well, unfortunately for Starfield fans on Game Pass who have had it so good for a year, Shattered Space is not part of the Games Pass subscription and needs to be purchased.
The DLC is a priced product. You can buy the DLC separately and play it on your Game Pass version of Starfield or buy the whole Premium Edition of the game and DLC and own it forever.
If you are pondering the first route, we would remind you should you ever let your Games Pass subscription lapse you would lose access to Starfield, but still own the Shattered Space DLC, which might be a bit weird.
If you are currently a member of Game Pass’s Ultimate tier you also get some money off your Store purchases too – for example, you would save an extra $3.50 if you stump up for the Premium Edition. It may not be much, but the money is better in your pocket at the end of the day.
Starfield: Shattered Space costs $29.99 and is available now from the Xbox Store or from Steam if you don’t partake in any of these Games Pass shenanigans.
The DLC focuses in on a localized mission on the planet Va’ruun’kai, home of the mysterious and not just a little bit creepy House Va’ruun faction from the base storyline, and is one of several planned expansions for Starfield.
