I’ve tested countless wireless earbuds in my time as a tech journalist, but if there’s one pair that I keep coming back to time and time again, it’s the excellent AirPods Pro 2.
For all that they offer, including a rich soundscape and powerful noise cancelling, I’d argue that the AirPods Pro 2 are an essential buy for iPhone users year-round, not just during Prime Day.
However, Amazon’s sale has certainly made buying a pair a bit easier on the wallet as you can now pick up the AirPods Pro 2 for just £179 instead of paying the full whack of £229. Whether you’re treating yourself or a loved one, it’s an instant win that’s just too good to pass up.

The AirPods Pro 2 are an essential buy for every iPhone user out there, but when they’re going cheap you owe it yourself to snap them up.
I will admit that when it comes to earbuds, there are some solid options out there that don’t fall within Apple’s wares. I recently tested the CMF Buds 2 and found myself consistently impressed with what they were able to provide in spite of their budget price tag, but as soon as the review period was over, I went straight back to using my AirPods Pro 2.
Part of the reason why I enjoy using them so much is because of how well they integrate into the Apple ecosystem. If I’m watching a video on my iPad but I get a call on my iPhone, the AirPods will just independently switch from one device to another without me having to change anything in the settings.
It’s also incredibly convenient to top up the charging case at a moment’s notice. Not only can you hook up a USB-C cable, but you can wirelessly charge the case via MagSafe as well as via an Apple Watch charger.
Circling back to the sound however, you can really push the AirPods Pro 2 with an Apple Music subscription in tow. With Spatial Audio toggled, it really does feel as if you’re being serenaded by your favourite artists. Every instrument and layer is separated and then placed around you, the direction of which changes as you move your head. It’s really quite something.
As a final note, I’ve found the ANC to be powerful enough even when flying, which has allowed me to kick back and enjoy a few episodes of a TV show without being bothered by cabin noise.
For just £179, the AirPods Pro 2 are an absolute steal, and I think it’s unlikely that they’ll go back down to this price again until Black Friday later in the year, making now the perfect time to pounce.
