Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 is still set to launch in late 2025, as confirmed by its CEO during an earnings call. There had been speculation that the game was facing further delays amid a strike by video game voice actors and motion-capture performers. However, Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, reassured players that the game is still scheduled for release next year.
MarketWatch reports that GTA 5 was the second-best-selling video game of all time with around 200 million copies shipped, and one of the most financially successful entertainment products of all time, with over $8.5 billion in worldwide revenue. Consequently, there has been huge anticipation for its sequel.
In its latest financial results, Take-Two stated that Rockstar Games continues to invest in the franchise and “plans to release Grand Theft Auto VI in the fall of calendar 2025.” Chief Executive Strauss Zelnick added that while delays can’t always be avoided, holding up “hit” titles or sequels could impact revenue, and “profits may decrease, and we may incur losses.” Hence, it appears that the video game holding company is reluctant to back down from its fall release.
The gaming giants had already announced that GTA 6 will be released in time for the latest generation of consoles, specifically Playstation 5, as well as Xbox X and S series.
Will GTA 6 be available on Xbox Game Pass?
Unfortunately for fans, GTA 6 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass or any other subscription service.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Zelnick said that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 could change consumer habits and normalize subscription services because it will be on Game Pass from day one.
He added: “I think that offering a frontline title with a premium price in a subscription service, day and date, will push consumers to that subscription service for at least a period of time.”
