Meet your new AI-powered wellness assistant, built with Gemini and rolling out in the redesigned Fitbit app

If you’re a Fitbit Premium subscriber in the U.S., you’re about to get a whole new kind of companion on your wrist and your phone. The app now includes a smart health coach running on Google’s Gemini AI

Starting this week, some Android users can try out the totally redesigned Fitbit app, revamped from the ground up.

Upon launching with the new app experience, there’s a quick onboarding chat lasting just five to ten minutes. The coach asks about your goals, sleep habits, what kind of equipment you have, and what you like.

From there, it curates workouts, keeps tabs on your recovery, watches your sleep quality, tracks readiness, and provides advice all in real time. The main screen splits into four tabs: Today, Fitness, Sleep, and Health. Each offering visual cards of your key metrics and letting you ping the coach anytime with the “Ask Coach” button.

In the redesigned Fitbit experience, the coach pulls info from your Fitbit and connected devices, tracking metrics like HRV, blood oxygen, sleep stages, and cardio load. If you sleep badly, the coach might suggest a shorter workout. It’ll switch up your schedule according to your needs without missing a beat.

This isn’t just about a shinier look. It’s a real jump toward personalised wellness, where it offers actionable, tailored advice instead of just data. Plus, you get better visuals, smoother syncing, and finally, dark mode.

Oh, and heads up. This preview is just rolling out to the U.S. Android users for now. The global rollout is expected later in 2026, while the iOS rollout might happen soon.
