EA FC 25 Speed Boost – how to pull off the move that is proving largely unstoppable

If there’s one thing the best EA FC players hate more than anything it is the rank-and-file players finding out their tricks and using them against them, but that is exactly what you can do here with the meta Speed Boost move that will likely get nerfed before too long.

Before that happens though, timing a Speed / Sprint Boost having learned how to do so will generally be enough to get past most players, especially if the player you are attempting it with is good at dribbling.

It’s proving difficult for defenders to react to as the attacker seems to go from a normal run or a standing start to suddenly past them and clean through in the blink of an eye. But how do you do it and is it supposed to be that easy to pull off?

The tactic itself possibly shouldn’t be as effective as it is proving to be. There are countless videos all over YouTube showing attackers scooting past defenders who simply don’t have time to react and it’s not exactly like it is difficult to pull off, at least not once you have practiced it and got the timing down. The Speed Boost is exactly as it sounds, a spurt of acceleration while dribbling. There’s nothing more to it than that. Of course, in real football, only certain players have the skillset and balance to be able to do it, which is why we think it may get toned down here sooner rather than later.

How to Speed Boost in EA FC 25

There’s really not much to it other than timing and two-button presses, but as we said it is really more effective with good, fast dribbers, which is when it becomes very difficult to defend against. We are looking here at players with 85+ on Sprint Speed and Dribbling. If one of these stats is just below and one just above, you should still be fine.

Here’s how to pull it off.

  • Receive the ball and press L1/LB depending on your console
  • Now press RT or whatever your sprint button is assigned to
  • Watch them go

Yes, that’s way too simple to do for the success it can bring.

The L1 button keeps the ball close to your player’s body and allows them to dribble from side to side, so when you throw in a sprint in there as well you have great close control at top speed.
