Fire TV users can now skip directly to a specific moment in a film simply by describing it aloud, thanks to a new Alexa+ feature that uses AI to recognise characters, quotes and scene details.
Arriving today on Fire TV devices, the new Alexa+ feature lets you say things like “Jump to the scene where Jack shouts I’m king of the world!” and Prime Video will immediately load that exact moment. It removes the usual hunt through progress bars and thumbnails, making scene-jumping almost instant for thousands of supported movies on Prime Video.
Amazon says the update builds on its mission to get viewers to what they want to watch as quickly as possible.
The AI model powering Alexa+ can identify a movie even when you don’t mention the title, relying on a blend of scene analysis, captions processed through X-Ray, and a mix of large language models including Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude to pinpoint the right moment in seconds.
This works even with natural, conversational prompts, whether you refer to a famous quote, a character, or a memorable moment. Examples include classics like the “boulder chase scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark”, Deloris Jordan’s “a shoe is just a shoe” line from Air, or well-loved musical moments such as Glinda in Wicked’s Ozdust ballroom.
Thousands of supported movies at launch
According to Amazon, the feature works with thousands of Prime Video films and tens of thousands of indexed scenes, with support expanding over time.
To use it, the movie must either be included with a Prime membership or purchased/rented through Prime Video. TV show support is also planned for a future update, which could make finding specific episodes or moments even more seamless.
Alexa+ becomes a broader viewing companion
Beyond scene-jumping, Alexa+ is also gaining expanded discovery tools this winter. Users can ask for personalised recommendations across Prime Video, Netflix, HBO Max and other services, or request details about actors, soundtracks or behind-the-scenes trivia while watching, no phone needed.
Sports fans aren’t left out either. Alexa+ can surface live game information, player stats and highlight reels across supported streaming services. Missed last night’s fourth-quarter comeback? Just ask Alexa+ to play the highlights.
