A Fortnite event running between now and the 5th of October will see the Isle of Doom spawning into a fraction of Fortnite players’ games and replacing Loot Island as part of this Season’s Marvel event. Capturing this rare island will reward players handsomely, making it well worth the effort over the normal Loot Island option.
The official Fortnite blog says there is a “small chance” that the Isle of Doom will appear in matches meaning that when it does, the competition to catch it will be large. Similar to Loot Island the spawn will not occur until later in the round after the Storm has closed several times, meaning your chances of ever seeing it are even slimmer.
For those that prevail, however, the rewards are big. So here’s how to go about capturing it.
Capture the Isle of Doom in Fortnite
Should you survive to the point where Loot Island spawns into your game you will be immediately alerted if you are fortunate to be getting the Isle of Doom version as you will receive an on-screen warning that “The Isle of Doom is rifting in! Embrace the power it holds!”
Check your map immediately and, if you are up for the challenge, head to the point, while remaining aware that it is extremely unlikely you are the only squad with your eyes on the prize.
At the center of the Isle of Doom, you will find Doom’s Cauldron and it is here you must stand until the capture is completed. This is unlikely to be simple due to the aforementioned inevitable gaggle of other players with the same intention.
Should you manage to pull it off Doom will see you as one of his Chosen few and it is reward time. Your health gets a boost to 500 alongside your shield and for every elimination you get from there on in you will get Shield Siphon.
Better than all this however is the ability to pull off three new attacks – here is how Epic Games describes them – “Decimate your foes with a multishot Arcane Barrage, tear through structures with the devastating Scorch Beam, and charge up the Mystical Gigabomb to annihilate those who refuse to kneel.”
Oh, and you also get Unlimited Sprint. Basically, if you don’t win your match after this lot you should probably play something else
