Vampire Survivors – the hit indie game that sees you fending off hordes of hundreds of spooky on-screen creatures in a melee of destruction finally arrives on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 today, bringing with it a huge collection of 221 Trophies to collect, including the Platinum which you get for getting the rest of them.
While this makes it one of the largest Trophy Collections of all time on Sony’s machine, it is only one more (the Platinum) than the Steam and Xbox version of the game.
The success Vampire Survivors has had – it generated over $7 million dollars on Steam in its first month alone – keep in mind it is less than $5 – has meant the clamor to bring it to the PlayStation has steadily been building, and now it looks set to become as big a hit there as previous platforms.
While many of the Trophies are simple and involve things such as merely surviving five minutes with a specific character some of the later ones are super tough – like defeating over 100,000 enemies with Genevieve in a single run.
What appears, at first, to be a simple roguelike, moving around the screen trying to fend off enemies with ever-increasing more powerful weaponry, actually evolves into a stressful bombardment of the senses as the screen fills up and players desperately try to evade the vampiric clutches.
It is a simple premise that has since spawned other games in the genre such as Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor and countless others.
The Vampire Survivors Trophy list contains 144 bronze, 61 silver, 15 gold, and 1 platinum, some of which will require the plentiful DLC to collect. Only 41 Trophies can be gained from the base game alone and extra purchases of the extra content (which can generally be had for around $2 a time) are needed.
