Black Friday is a brilliant time to get started on your Christmas shopping, and what makes a better present than an LED face mask?
An LED face mask not only offers even just a few minutes of self-care each day but consistent use means you can expect glowing skin in a matter of weeks.
So whether you’re hoping to get a Christmas present for a beauty or skincare-obsessed loved one, or you just want to treat yourself this holiday season, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve rounded up four LED face masks that have caught my eye in the past year or so in the hope that they’ll all see a price drop for Black Friday.

Shark Cryoglow
The Shark Cryoglow is easily one of my favourite LED face masks, thanks to its refreshing under-eye cooling, well-timed sessions and comfortable head strap. While it might not be the lightest face mask I’ve tried, it’s still a brilliant option for anyone wanting to improve the appearance of skin texture and blemishes.
My biggest issue with the Shark Cryoglow is the £299 price tag. Sure it might not be as expensive as others which promise the same results, but £299 is still undoubtedly a large sum of money to spend at once, especially this time of year.
With this in mind, I’m hoping that the Shark Cryoglow will see at least a slight dip in price to help soften the blow, as it really would make a brilliant gift for so many people.
Pure Tone Aesthetics Glow LED
I’m currently in the process of reviewing the Pure Tone Aesthetics Glow LED mask and am pleasantly surprised by its results so far. Firstly, especially in comparison to the Shark Cryoglow, the Glow is impressively lightweight and sits comfortably on your face – a good job it does too, considering you can set a mode for up to 30 minutes.
Not only that, but the Glow mask is fitted with three different skincare modes: red light, blue light and yellow light. While we’ve explained the differences between red and blue lights in LED masks, yellow lights aren’t typically common in face masks. Essentially, yellow light is designed to soothe sensitive skin, reduce redness and improve circulation.
If you’re like me and have multiple skin concerns you’d like addressing (the joy of temperamental skin), then the Pure Tone is a solid choice. While at £199, it’s certainly more on the cheaper side of things, a Black Friday deal wouldn’t go amiss.
Foreo FAQ 202
The Foreo FAQ 202 is well and truly packed with features. Not only does it promise a “perfect” fit regardless of your face shape, but it also offers much more than just standard red and blue lights. Alongside yellow, which is found in the Pure Tone Aesthetics Glow LED mask, you can also choose between green, orange, purple and cyan too.
While Foreo does disclaim that those colours aren’t intended to have a medical effect, they each offer at least 440 nm wavelength and serve their own respective purpose.
For example, green is designed to brighten and even skin, orange is intended to improve skin texture and purple should help improve hyperpigmentation. Finally, cyan is designed to help calm stressed skin, making it the perfect mode for self-care.
Dermalux Flex-MD
Okay, so this isn’t technically a mask but that doesn’t mean I can’t wish for the mighty Dermalux Flex-MD to get the Black Friday treatment. With a hefty starting price tag of £1999.99, the Dermalux Flex-MD boasts an FDA approved design, and promises to be at least “three times more powerful” compared to other portable LED devices.
Although this is an at-home device, it offers you a salon-like experience as you need to lay down underneath the 360 LED bulbs for up to 30 minutes. With clinically proven blue, red and near infrared wavelengths, the Dermalux Flex-MD promises to reduce signs of ageing and hyperpigmentation after consistent use.
As £1999.99 is a bit out of my budget this Christmas, I’d be grateful to see a decent price cut for Black Friday.
What should I look for in an LED face mask?
There are a few factors to look out for when shopping for an LED face mask. Firstly, you must check the nanometers (nm) of each wavelength the mask provides, to ensure it’s strong enough to actually provide results. Red light therapy should provide anywhere between 630-660 nm while blue light will likely be slightly less at between 405-420nm instead.
Next, you should check what modes the LED face mask offers and check that they’re in line with the above nanometers and will actually serve your skincare needs. We’ve spoken previously to the Director of Technical Content at Mouser who actually said that LED masks that offer more modes are a good sign as it shows the brand is using “more sophisticated microcontrollers”.
