Samsung’s next major software update for Galaxy devices may be arriving soon.
According to multiple sources on X, the One UI 8.5 beta program is now set to begin on December 8, after an earlier delay pushed it out of its original November window.
The beta rollout will reportedly follow Samsung’s usual two-phase structure. The first wave is expected to land in the US, UK, Korea and Germany, while the second phase, pencilled in for December 22, will expand access to India and Poland. That second phase may also bring the second beta update to the initial markets.
Tipster Tarun Vats suggests Samsung is preparing at least three beta builds, with the third likely to arrive in the first week of January. As always with pre-release software, these timelines could shift, but the pattern lines up with Samsung’s typical beta cadence.
There’s been no shortage of hints that One UI 8.5 is close. Early firmware for the Galaxy S25 Ultra leaked last month, followed by what appeared to be the first public beta build. Firmware for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has also surfaced, though Samsung has yet to confirm exactly which devices will be included in the program.
With multiple builds already floating around and several reputable sources pointing to early December, it looks increasingly likely that Samsung is ready to switch on One UI 8.5 testing.
The update is expected to bring a mix of visual refinements and new features, including some fresh AI-powered additions. We’ll know more once Samsung makes things official, but for now, a December launch window seems highly plausible.
