Black Friday isn’t just about hoovering up deals on home appliances, tech and clothes; it’s also the perfect excuse to finally grab that game you’ve been eyeing up for months at a serious discount.

The problem is, with so many titles getting price cuts, it can be hard to separate the genuine bargains from the “might play it once “impulse buys. To help you out, we’ve picked five standout games that are absolutely worth your time and hard-earned cash in this year’s Black Friday sale

EA’s rebranded FIFA game for 2026 is a no-brainer at this price, especially if you’ve been holding off since launch at the end of September.

Dropping from £69.99 to just £37.99 at Amazon on PS5, Xbox Series S|X and just £27.85 on the Switch 2, you’re getting the full-fat next-gen football experience – slick matchday presentation, more realistic animations and all the licensed leagues and modes you’d expect – for what used to be budget money.

Career Mode and Ultimate Team are still the main time sinks, but it’s also a great shout for quick local matches with friends over the festive break. If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to upgrade your virtual football fix on PS5, this Black Friday saving is exactly that.

If you’ve been craving a new online shooter to sink hours into over the festive period, Battlefield 6 is an easy recommendation from us.

It looks like Battlefield 6 has knocked Call of Duty off its FPS perch this year, with the gritty, realistic shooter proving much more popular with gamers than… whatever Black Ops 7 is. Seriously, have you seen that game’s campaign?

If you’re looking for a big, cinematic multiplayer shooter this Black Friday, Battlefield 6 has dropped from £69.99 to £49.99 on both Xbox Series X/S and PS5 at Amazon, while PC players can pick it up for £50.99 via the EA Play App, making it a much easier sell – especially considering the game is just a few weeks’ old.

You’re getting large-scale maps, chaotic vehicle combat and that classic Battlefield mix of tactical play and all-out mayhem, whether you’re squadding up with mates or diving into a few quick rounds in the evening.

With a decent chunk off the RRP, it makes the latest Assassin’s Creed title much more tempting.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is one of the more interesting Black Friday picks on this list, not least because it launched with a fair bit of controversy around its story decisions and performance on some platforms.

Even so, we really enjoyed playing it through to the end. The dual-protagonist setup, gorgeous feudal Japan setting and deeper stealth systems make it feel like a proper evolution for the series rather than just another reskin.

With the Limited Edition game now down from £59.99 to £39.99 on both PS5 and Xbox – with free DLC bundled in for good measure – it’s a much easier recommendation if you were on the fence at launch.

The latest full-fat entry to the Borderlands series only launched in September, so seeing it tumble from £69.99 to £39.99 on both PS5 and Xbox this soon is a bit of a result.

If you’ve got a soft spot for looter-shooters, this is more of that classic Borderlands formula: hectic gunplay, a ridiculous number of weapons and plenty of that classic humour the series is known for, all wrapped up in its trademark cel-shaded art style.

As with other games in the series, it’s built with co-op in mind, so it’s a great one to jump into with friends over the Christmas break, but it’s still perfectly playable solo if you’re just here for the loot grind. And, with bigger open worlds than ever before, there are fewer loading screens to deal with – and that in itself is a big win for Borderlands.

It’s an easy game to lose hours in, whether you’re running a franchise, building up your player or just jumping into a few quick matches in the evening.
