Surf’s up, and so is surrealist sportswear. adidas Originals and cult fashion house Avavav just dropped their third collab, and it’s weird in the best way. Inspired by exaggeration and contradiction, creative director Beate Skonare Karlsson reimagines adidas classics into something wildly unexpected.

Apparel goes from loose and slouchy to painted-on. Think body-hugging trompe l’œil tops that look like second skin, balloon-sized shorts, and sculpted accessories that double as art. The cropped puffer is pure cartoon glam, while tees morph into hoodie hybrids.
Even the classic track jacket gets a surreal twist, referencing Avavav’s SS25 runway, where body-painted adidas pieces turned heads. The shoes? Total transformation. The Modified Superstar arrives in vacuum-sealed leather with embossed stripes.
The Moonrubber Megaride’s bubble sole gets a cosmic glow-up. And the scene-stealer? The Luge Heel features a 22cm spike that turns high performance into high fashion parody. Shot by Szilveszter Mako, the campaign feels like a dreamy fever dream. Models ride painted waves, straddle giant fish, and stand tall on winners’ podiums, all framed by tiled fantasy.
