Huawei is preparing to make a statement in the ultra-thin smartphone game with the new Mate 70 Air. This one’s light, slim, and clearly gunning for Apple’s iPhone Air.
The Huawei Mate 70 Air is supposed to launch on November 6, but thanks to some fresh leaks on Weibo, we’ve already caught a good look at it – and yeah, it’s just as sleek as you’d hope.
It maintains Huawei’s signature design playbook, complete with the brand’s iconic circular camera bump right in the centre of the back. This time, though, things look sharper. The edges are softer and curved, and the frame is crazy thin, so the whole thing feels lighter and more high-end.
From leaked photos, the phone features a triple rear camera setup with an LED flash tucked neatly between the sensors and the XMAGE logo just above, a clear shoutout to Huawei’s own camera tech. The pack panel comes in matte silver or gold, ditching the shiny look from the Mate 70 Pro+ for something a bit more understated and modern.
Flip it over and you’ll see a curved, almost bezel-free display with just a tiny punch-hole for the front camera. It’s minimal, clean, and totally in line with Huawei’s pursuit of seamless design. Power and volume buttons sit on the left. Early impressions suggest a device balances comfort and high-end craftsmanship.
Huawei plans to show off all the specs and details soon on VMall, but people in China are already spotting pre-orders at some Huawei stores.
With Apple working behind the scenes on the iPhone Air, Huawei’s Mate 70 Air lands at just the right moment. This bold, design-focused move really wants to change the way we think about slim flagship phones.
The official reveal is rumoured to take place on November 6.
