With the summer holiday now upon us, now’s as good a time as any to think about what you might need for the next school year.

Let’s face it, whether you’re heading into sixth form or looking to start your first year at university, the whole process can be an expensive one when you factor in all of the costs involved. To save you a small fortune however, we’ve spotted an absolute steal on a Windows laptop that’s available this Prime Day.

If you jump on over to Amazon right now then you’ll spot the slick Dell Inspiron 15 going for just £349 as opposed to its usual asking price of £499. For a Windows laptop, that’s almost unheard of as you’d usually only see Chromebooks going for that price.

With tons of ports, a 120Hz refresh rate and a large 15.6-inch display, the Dell Inspiron 15 is now a bargain for students in need of a new laptop.

As great as Chromebooks are, you never know when a class might rely on a programme or app that only works on Windows, so to save yourself from any hassle down the line, this offer is well worth snapping up whilst it’s still available.

What’s quite surprising about this laptop is that in spite of its affordability, there are quite a few features that you don’t typically see down the cheaper end of the market, the most obvious of which is the super fast 120Hz refresh rate. Having this feature in tow will make everything feel just that bit smoother in operation as you quickly scroll through documents and web pages, and it certainly won’t go amiss for a spot of cloud gaming either.

Because of the laptop’s large 15.6-inch display, you’ll have plenty of room to have multiple windows open at once, which just makes the process of multitasking so much easier. Speaking from experience, I upgraded to a wider monitor last year and having that added space just makes it so much more efficient when it comes to writing and researching at the same time.

You also won’t be left wanting in the way of ports as there’s a USB-C dock, two USB-A ports, an SD card reader, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a full sized HDMI slot which is perfect for when you need to give a presentation.

While we have yet to review this exact model, it does currently have a high 4.3-star rating based on 115 customer reviews. One happy buyer wrote: “the HD display and camera are a huge improvement in what I’m used to. I can now be clearly visible in online meetings and the display is marvellous. The caps lock has a light indicator on it which is something I’ve not had before. I find the 512GB drive very generous. It stores all my programmes and data including 150GB of music files.”

For all that the Dell Inspiron 15 brings to the table, £349 is a bargain price tag that should not be missed, particularly as we’re in the final stint of the Prime Day sale.
